Physical Inventory

BMS can manage your physical inventory

BMS can provide several hand held computers for electronically counting the stock in a store. In addition, a BMS employee will be present to help manage the count process.
The BMS employee will be available for 8 hours per day. Any size store can be counted in this time provided enough people are present to conduct the count. At a minimum, there must be 12 people, one for each hand held and some assistants. For larger stores, more hand-held units can be provided.
There are several sections of the store where two people are better for each hand-held unit. One person to count and call out item numbers, the second to enter the information into the hand held. It is also advisable, especially in larger stores, to have some bins pre-counted. Simply drop a piece of paper in the bin with the count so that a person with a hand held can enter it quickly, later.
Any back stock or yard items are easier counted by listing on paper to enter either directly into the computer or into a hand held later. Back stock counts must be entered into the system prior to downloading hand held counts.
After a section is counted, the BMS employee will download the unit into the computer. An error sheet will be printed for any item that is not found in the computer. This sheet will be provided to the person who conducted the count. It is their responsibility to make corrections, i.e. provide correct item numbers if mis-keyed or provide description and price if entry was correct. These corrected error sheets will be need to be corrected by store personnel after the physical is completed (or during if manpower and time permits).
If the count exceeds the eight hour time limit, additional days can be purchased in eight hour increments. A BMS person on site at the count from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm would require two days of inventory service. Again, with proper planning, scheduling and implementation, any store can be counted in the eight hour time limit.
